Has anyone managed to obtain finance for property purchase in Malaysia (or South East Asia)? A family member is considering transferring the title and existing mortgage of a property located in Malaysia over to me. However, when I spoke to the bank some years back about having my name on the mortgage and title, they were reluctant because I was not living and earning an income in Malaysia. My only option is a cash purchase. If anyone knows of any lenders who will lend in this situation, that would be most appreciated. Thanks.

You could try releasing equity against an Australian owned property – however, the “purpose” of funding an overseas property might not be accepted by some lenders.

    Cheers
