Hi my partner and I just purchased a property in Melb.
    We paid 475,000 for it.

I am planning on living there while my partner works in the mines
I am wanting to get someone or a couple to live with me as soon as I move in, which is next month.

As we got the first home owners grant is this allowed ?
What is the tax I would pay
Was going to charge 220 for the couple

I am so new to this….
    any help is appreciated

This is a bit of a 'grey' area. My friend has students rent rooms in her house and for taxation purposes and as far as centrelink goes the rent they pay is not seen as income. i am not sure who you would need tp speak to to clarify this issue.

    cheers

    Hi all,

I've always wondered something about this.  Is there a difference between having a boarder versus renting out a room?  Or is it the same thing?

Go as far as you can see and you will see further.
