    Negative cash flow property

A negatively geared property in a nutshell is when the mortgage needs ‘topping up’ from your income. Your property deductions /out of pocket expenses may help you to secure a tax refund at the end of the financial year. Save your tax refund as a buffer. In a couple of years, you’ll likely have enough ‘buffer’ to use for a deposit on another property.
Don’t forget – at most your risk will be limited to the shortfall needed from your income, not the entire mortgage and expenses repayment.

Interesting point, but what if negative gearing is criminalised again? Isn't negative gearing just a tax rort that's only available in a handful of countries. This thread suggests negative gearing is available in many countries but of the countries mentioned there, only Australia, Canada and NZ allow the deduction against unrelated income. I suspect a future government may change this law.

George, all may not be well with the property market. Many people think house prices have peaked and a crash is imminent.

These Get Up! campaigns are getting a lot of attention in the media and on property blogs and forums, but I couldn't find any mention here…….

    Campaign1: End Negative Gearing

Campaign 2: First Home Buyers Strike

Read the comments to see the level of anger in the community!

The FHB strike is at number one position on Get Up which means they will take it to the politicians with a strong campaign and mandate from the general population.

How will this affect property values going forward.

Members of Somersoft seem rather nervous: Somersoft members worried?

While members of AustralianPropertyForum.com seem pleased: APF Members pleased?

What do PI.com members think. How will these campaigns influence the real estate market?

The campaigns are getting a lot of publicity, there was an interview with proper on the radio this morning, and it's been mentioned in the SMH too!

They are quite rude for example we sent a locksmith around because we had lost the key to a window lock so sent him round to put in new locks (fine) but they told him he had to do the garage lock too, but they had never mentioned it to me so the locksmith had no authority to do it (I would have been fine for him to do it) but the tenant abused the hell out of him and he has refused to ever go back there… That is the type of person i am dealing with. So I feel very pressured

Tenants from hell mate. Get rid of them as soon as the lease is up!

Full article is here: Australian Property Bubble?

I think the first signs of collapse are here – i.e. government trying to prop up the market with a fifth pillar!
