Thanks Matt. I ended up paying for a company to do the whole lot. You are right about the preferences of the buyer or renter. Expensive products won’t make any difference to the rent of this old unit.

I come across a duplex, fire damaged one, and the other one is still tenanted. The insurance company assessed the damaged one as a write-off. Can I get any advice from anyone experienced in dealing in duplex on the possible costs to rebuild? Is it possible to demolish the damaged half and keep the one good half, to detach from duplex?

Thanks Corey. I don’t think the properties in Hobart will perform as well as Melbourne and Sydeny. However, just to generate rental income, it probably should be OK?

I have talked to an agent in Hobart over the phone and was told that the property market has been booming there in the last 3 months….. I am living in Melbourne and am tempted to get a rental property in Hobart. However, I am fair new in doing property investment (first one). Much appreciated if anyone will share his/her opinion on this market.
