Today I had a guy come from “Profitable Business Concepts talking about a new program for teenagers called “Empower U”. They are offering a free “sampler” night to tell us more about the program.

But I was wondering wether anyone has gone to any courses by these guys..? And if they are any good. I don’t know any costs at the moment but I am planning to go along to the free night to get a better idea…I am just doing to research before hand.

By the sounds of what the speaker was talking about today, it sounds like this company works in a lot of investing areas..(shares, property, and self confidence) and I think this course has more to do with self confidence and planning your own future, a bit like what Steve said in his book. about how 90% of people can’t make financial decisions, 9% can make them, and 1% have all really planned their decisions, but I’ll find more out later..

BTW how many people in this forum feel that they fit into the 1% that have preplanned their decisions.. I realise that you must take in account for set backs but do most people have a good solid idea of what their next move is going to be…??

The weak will feed off of the strong until they are strong enough to be fed off of…

This sounds rather dangerous to me.

Targetting teenagers – who are less experienced & in many cases more financially vulnerable.

I suggest that if you feel uncomfortable about their program at the free evening that you report them to ASIC & the state Fair Trading Commission for investigation.

If they’re sincere – great, an investigation will come up clean.

If not….best they be caught before they can do too much damage.

    Cheers,

They are probably based on the Gold Coast PO Box %$^%.

The free sampler is bait in their fishing project most likely ;-)

    Ballie,

I am one of the people who don’t plan- anything :) Life for me is a series of surprises and spontaneous actions and unknown consequences- it’s quite fun :)

Re the business… I would hope that teenagwers could have access to programs which encourage self-confidence, and can discuss plans with young people, that don’t have any intent to take their money at the end of it. Guess it’s just been a market waiting to happen :o(

    Ballie,

    Here’s their website:

    http://www.empoweru.net/tla.asp

It’s an american company. There’s nothing I can find on aussie websites about the program. Guess by going to one of their workshop tasters, you might become one of the people who can train these young people to become super by being a presenter? Or by buying a franchise? Dunno- the website is light on details of costs etc.

    Hi Bailliez,

Go along – just leave your credit card, cheque book etc behind and don’t sign anything on the night. Take as much information as you can from the night and DO NOT do anything for a week or so after when you have had more time to think through what is being discussed.

And finally make all decisions in the comfort of your home and away from the ‘consultant’
