    I often hear “Australian homes are one of the most expensive in the world”.    Some years back I stumbled over a website that puts the lie to that particular claim.  If you want to see where we sit re our house prices, check out this post from the “Big Picture” topic:-

    That post introduces the website that shows a map of the world with most major cities (and some not-so-major) and their house prices.  Aussie is really not doing so bad.  e.g. Try buying a house in jakarta for example – with 37 times the annual salary needed to buy the average house.   Or settle for Sydney instead, at 12.5 times annual.   Melbourne at 7.5 times annual.  Or Perth at 6 times.

    Expensive?  We ain’t doing so bad methinks !!
