I have talked to an agent in Hobart over the phone and was told that the property market has been booming there in the last 3 months….. I am living in Melbourne and am tempted to get a rental property in Hobart. However, I am fair new in doing property investment (first one). Much appreciated if anyone will share his/her opinion on this market.Corey BattParticipant@cjaysaJoin Date: 2012Post Count: 1,010
The market has been moving up there, yields are still a lot higher than the mainland but thats not surprising considering it’s a small regional area. Historically Tasmania generally jumps up considerably in short busts than stagnates for years, so be careful to not assume the growth will continue trending in any linear fashion.

Thanks Corey. I don’t think the properties in Hobart will perform as well as Melbourne and Sydeny. However, just to generate rental income, it probably should be OK?Corey BattParticipant@cjaysaJoin Date: 2012Post Count: 1,010
It all comes down to your goals and what you want the investment properties to achieve. If you’re looking for investments which will provide you with a higher yield – then Hobart is definitely a place to consider.HobartBuildingInspectorParticipant@hobartbuildinginspectorJoin Date: 2017Post Count: 3
