    Hi Mandy

Best property Accountant I can think of is Steve Hodgkinson who is a partner at the Gold Business Group – Southport and has been my Accountant for 20 years.

Steve is a forum member and an expert in Property Tax structures. Acts for dozens of forum members.

Tell him I sent you down and he will look after you as you will find most good property based accountants aren’t taking on new clients.

    Cheers

    Hi Greg

Can’t recommend one in Newcastle but in Sydney – Paul Gerrard from Price Financial is very good.

    Cheers

Any reccomendations for property tax accountant in Melbourne?

Must be a specialist in property accounting and asset structuring.

Also: what do you look for in a good property tax accountant? How do I know I am getting the best advice?

    Many thanks

    Hi Shane,

Also: what do you look for in a good property tax accountant? How do I know I am getting the best advice?

Ask them if they own investment properties themselves. If they don’t, you need to keep looking. Hopefully they would have at least a small portfolio of IPs.

Based on that fact, you can be SURE they will know all that is needed to be known re IP’s.

when it comes to choosing a property tax accountant in Melbourne, look for someone who genuinely understands the nuances of investment property tax law and asset structuring. Experience with things like negative gearing, CGT, and trust structures is a big plus. It’s also helpful if they’ve worked with a range of investor types — from first-time buyers to those with large portfolios. Asking whether they personally invest in property can give insight into how practical their advice might be. If you ever need a second opinion or want to chat through your options, feel free to reach out to our team at LTE Tax.
