Looking for property renovation data

Hey All,

For a study i'm doing, I need to find out some numbers of the amount of people renovating their houses and wondering if this information is available somewhere.

I've looked through the ABS stuff but it only seems to be building approvals (unless I'm reading it incorrectly). So, I'm wondering if anyone knows where to point me to find the following sort of information:

1) Number of people renovating their hours in the Sydney area

2) Number of people renovating their house per state

3) Number of people renovating their house in Australia

Some value information would be great as well – not sure I'll be able to find that info as well, but worth a try.

Obviously it won't be greatly accurate but I'm just after some ideas of figures (i.e. is is 50,000 in Sydney, or more like 500,000)?
