Gratuitous plug for a link to some census data provided by News.com.au
I have had a little play with this and depending upon the slant you put on it, the stats can be used for good or for evil (he he he) eg: determining housing stress where mortgage > 30% of household income (or they are a pack of liars).

Just plug in a post code in an area that you're interested and bingo.
