… and there you have it folks.  Avalon airport is going international and shall have its own rail link.  Not hard to see that coming with all the flat land around it and a railway line across the road.

This will mean great things for property values in the Geelong area.  Not hard to see that if you had a corporate headquarters in Melbourne, it would cross your mind it might be easier to be nearby to Avalon Airport in the future.  It shall be interesting to see what this does to Commercial Real Estate in the area as the project progresses.

And that is why Victoria is moving ahead of NSW. Everyone knows NSW needs a second airport in Badgerys Creek but it is too sensitive and a hot potato for either the Feds to admit we need it & fund it or the State to accept the costs in providing the required infrastructure to get there.

Awesome, a rail line to the airport.  Farewell, Tullamarine!

Now, if only Virgin flew out of Avalon all my travel dreams would be realised.

Any idea which 'burbs the rail line will service?

Well, it looks like you're stuck with Jetstar for a little while longer. Just wait until you find out how much the charges are to use the special rail line, the platform access charges and the fact they won't have carriages suitable for carrying luggage before you jump for joy – they made all these mistakes in Sydney so the thing is  too expensive (ie more expensive than a cabfare) as well as inconvenient.

As a single frequent traveler, it is feasible but with a family the equation soon swings the other way.
