Im new to investing in strata units and have just bought a property interstate. I am confused as to who I can elect as my proxy at a strata meeting. Do I have to have a proxy to vote, how do they know how I want to vote. If I have to tell them why can't I just tell the strata manager?

My understanding is you can elect anyone to vote as long as you fill out the proxy form.

Our strata managers send us a form to fill out for every meeting but we can also use this form to fill out how we want to vote on what agenda items and post it back to them so we are voting having read the agenda but not being at the meeting. So in essence we do just tell the Strata Manager via a form and cut out the proxy.

    Hope this helps

I'm a bit lazy with the strata stuff (I shouldn't be – it's important to be able to have a say and know what's going on). Having said that, I've never elected a proxy or attended a meeting for the properties I hold in body corps/stratas…..it might come back to bite me one day.

    Cheers

Jamie just ruin your PM’s day and make them attend (it’ll cost you though).

lol – it's my wife who looks after them. She will be thrilled :-)

But I'm sure it will still cost me!

    Cheers
