Last week we did your pre-handover inspection and found a expansion joint inside our new home on the entry corridor ceiling. When I asked, the CM advised that it's required for any soil movement. I am bit confused, as I never seen this in any home. Can I get your opinion please.

Also, when I looked outside expansion joints through out the house, the builder didn't run the joints through the bottom of the wall. Is this okay?

    Your help is much appreciated.

Pictures would help. As an ex builder expansion joints in a house sound a but weird.
