I have just been quoted slightly under $10K for 3 built in wardrobes, does this sound reasonable?

    2 X 3 door and 1 X 4 door built in wardrobe.

We had some really old built ins that we ripped out and replaced with new. That included 3 mirrored doors and all cabinetry. From memory it was $1800 supplied+installed. We shopped around a fair bit and that was the best price we got. FYI we are in Newcastle.
Maybe get a few more quotes

From memory, I paid not much under $2000 for a 3 door mirrored built in a year or two ago all inclusive.

It depends on the type of wardrobe you are after. Hinged doors with polyurethane finish is more expensive than mirrored sliding door. Timber veneer finish is most expensive.
Internal carcass and drawers design will also make an impact on the cost.

If this is an IP, I would go for the most economic and common option, approx. 450mm deep wardrobe mirrored sliding doors, internally with white melamine finish, hanging rails and simple drawers / shelves. This might cost you around $450/m.
