    Looking for inspiration!

What are some interesting/creative purchases/investments you have done so far in 2012.

    – A development?
    – Shipping ice from antartica to the middle east?
    – Anything goes.

Hoping to develop some new paradigms when looking at how to next invest my cash. :)

I specialize in Property development. We find the projects and put our investors into project where they own the sites and share in the development margin. To do this we focus on slightly higher projects.

I set up a website and use Gumtree to promote my place at the beginning. The response is quite good. Then I also try other vacation rental website like Wimdu, which brings quite a good business to me.

We’d be advertising mainly to Chinese and Koreans, so wholly different channels.

I’d try to get in hotels.com and booking.com- both have b&b listings, I know they come up in my searches even if I don’t ask for them lol

I actually thought Gumtree would be better regulated than what it was. I tried selling some bike wheels on it recently and got a number of very dodgy replies asking me to wire money to them first! Once I contacted Gumtree they told me to forward on the emails to investigate them. Thought their filtering system would be better. Anyway still sold the wheels.

Regarding renting I guess Gumtree would be effective, though I figure some dodgy potential clients may be searching through the real estate section too.

Should probably have purchased by then, but very much doubt they'll be anything of that size. Let's talk again around October.

    That sounds interesting!

Actually my partner and I are shifting our focus altogether for the next financial year and stepping into transport & logistics as that is his 'thing'.

    Haha,

Stole that idea from the 1985 film Brewseter's Millions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brewster's_Millions

Funny film from memory, Brewster needs to spend $30M in 30 days to inherit $300M and tries to spend some of it on a business venture shipping ice to the middle east which actually turns out to be quite profitable to his bemusement.

    Hey guys

I will give a go to the gumtree site, and also did some research this weekend

I found trip advisor opened a site called flip keys, looks good

Also found an article regarding a website Wimdu
    http://au.news.yahoo.com/today-tonight/consumer/article/-/12440435/spare-cash-for-spare-rooms

How do you guys think these “integrated” website?
I can see it protects host more for getting full payment.
I don’t care much about the 3% commission but do they really have guests??
This is always important for me to decide long-term vs short term

    Thanks
