    Hi there,
    I am just doing some calculations on buying costs for a property I am thinking about putting an offer on, and have a question about stamp duty. Is stamp duty payable when purchasing from a government department ie Ministry of Housing?

    Yes doesnt matter who the Vendor is SD is payable at the applicable rate.

    Richard is correct,

    stamp duty is payable irrespective of the vendor
