    Hi all,

I just got notified by my builder that the council where I am building my property requires me to lodge a indemnity form that states I would indemnify the council upon the damage to sewer/stormwater caused by the construction.

My question is: Isn't supposed to be builder's responsibility? Aren't they covered by their insurance?

How should I proceed with this?

    Thank you.

In Victoria most councils require an asset protection permit for every property where a building permit has been issued. This also involves paying a bond which is refunded if no damage occurs to the council assets. It is usually sent to the owner of the property when the permit is issued but should be passed on to the builder to deal with.
