    Hi everyone.

I am looking to build two townhouses in the Zillmere later this year.  However, I am worried that with all the construction going on rebuilding after the devastating floods we have here that construction costs will skyrocket.  Has anyone got a view on this?  My thoughts were maybe that because a lot of the flood related work will be renovation type stuff that this may not impact on builders doing the new stuff, though I am not sure whether this is correct.

In any event, there is going to be some increase in building cost but I am just looking for opinions on how much people might think that increase might be and how long the increase will stay around for (I think there are around 15,000 homes around Brisbane which have been heavily impacted and maybe the same amount again that have had some impact).

    Look forward to your thoughts.

    Thanks

    Ben

It’s generally pretty hard to get a hold of trades people after this sort of a thing. But if you were to use a bigger company specializing in new homes rather than a builder out of the yelliw pages. I don’t imagine it would have too much effect. As they won’t get involved in repair work and have there own trades.
