It sound simple but if you are going to be lifting building materials ensure that you can do it by yourself or get some help before you have an accident.
If you review the statistics put out by Workcover, it generally reveals that many accidents to tradespersons occur due to poorly established sites which comes down to the person in control of the site not having had either adequate training or experience in construction hence not being aware of the risks.

My sister in law was walking on her outside deck when the timber snapped and her leg went through the deck trapping her.
Luckly she has friends who drop in regularly and investigated why she did not answer the door and found her round the back in the deck.What about on the block when the ceiling collapsed on the wife. !
