Hi – I have a plumber coming out on Saturday to give us a quote to drop the laundry taps from above the bench to below the bench. We are getting a stainless steel commercial style bench made. Does anyone know the approx hourly rate that a plumber charges? I have already purchased the taps. Just trying to get a guesstimate in mind beforehand.
As a side note I placed the job on Service Central and have been very impressed with the responses – certainly saves you doing the ring around. Highly recommend it.
    Thanks in advance

Hi, I am talking Perth rates here but have paid between $77 and $99 per hour…best to get an hourly rate on the phone or guestimate of total job cost….stay with a plumber who specialises in residential as I have experienced outrageous quotes from commercial plumbers when quoting on a residential job – hope this helps :-)

You'll probably be looking at a premium rate for Saturday so expect the worst. Theres plenty of tradesmen that give free fixed price quotes so I would advise anyone to get the costs on paper before any work starts. Ask him what the cost will be as soon as he shows up…. send him on his way if you're anyway concerned about the cost.

Thanks guys – plumber was lovely and the quotes very painless – approx $550 to drop taps down, and plumb in new bench, and some fancy things with the washing machine water being directed straight into the pipe. Take water through brick external wall for future outdoor shower & approx $150 to fit new toilet and modifying the cast iron waste to make a little more room..
    So happy chappy
