Whilst still in the UK waiting to move to NZ I have been browsing trade me and realestate.co.nz. Obviously most reno's are not advertised on such sites with most properties starting at around $250k – $300k.
What are the likely bottom end prices in the main cities of the North Island for 2-3 bed reno's?Jane – HotspaceParticipant@jane—hotspaceJoin Date: 2010Post Count: 69
You might be better asking this question on a NZ forum. Try http://www.propertytalk.com/forum/ where you can select NZ as a country and find out there.
I know NZ looks like a small place but prices vary greatly. However, one thing I can say is that now is still a good time to buy there.
You might also get some info from http://propertyblogs.co.nz/
Sorry not to be able to give you a direct answer but I do hope these links help.rich handMember@rich-handJoin Date: 2010Post Count: 7

You can certainly get good fixer uppers in the $250-$300K range in Napier and Hastings. Flaxmere even lower.
What is your intention here? Are you buying to live in or buying to reno and flick, because where you buy may change in that case.
I’m based in Napier and happy to help if you’re interested in investing in the Hawke’s Bay.
PM or email me.
