    Hello,

    Signed contracts to prucahse some vacant land DEC 22 2008 to settle mid-late fev.  Fence was erected in Jan.

    I am responsible for payment as 4 months later they are demanded payment.

    I did not cotract them to do the work.

    I did not have ownership of property while work was carried out.

    There are no special clauses in sale contract that I would pay for fencing.

    What should I do?

    What are my rights?

    Depends on State you are in.  Who did the fencing?  In NSW standard contract provides if a valid notice is given after contracts are signed purchaser could be responsible.  Talk to your solicitor or conveyancer.
