I'm new to all this. I require a trusted accountant to help me with structuring and setting up a business. Someone who is an expert in their field, but constantly seeks for further learning. Someone who could educate me as well as do the actual job.
Can anyone recommend me a good accounting firm?

Hi, I am new here too, and I also need a new accountant, someone who understands property, and can help minimise CGT for example.
We are selling our first house which we have not lived in for 15 years.
We only lived in it 3 years so expect we will pay a lot of capital gains, but since we are now in the new financial year, and also looking for a new accountant, I was thinking we might be able to find someone who can help our CGT situation which is happening this year.

this looks like a great forum. I am about to take the plunge into property investment and fairly certain that I want to set up a trust.
I am looking for a good accountant in Brisbane to go through this with me.
Does anyone have any suggestions of accountants/firms they have used?
Not Brissie but try Steve Hodgkinson who is a partner at the Gold Business Group at Southport.
Steve has been my Accountant for 12 years.
He acts for dozens of forum members also and really understands property and Trust structures.
Contact details are 07 5532 2855.
Tell him i sent you as most good Accountants are not taking on new clientsAntTParticipant@anttJoin Date: 2009Post Count: 3
I'm not sure if you're still looking around for a Brisbane based accountant but from the recommendations on this forum to see Specialised Business Solutions I went to see them a couple of weeks ago. I saw Prasanth Saravanabhava and he was able to give me all the answers & information on what I required in order for me to sift through the false information around the place. I was in a similar position to you with the intentions of setting up a trust for investment purposes. Since there have been quite a few recommendations to see their staff members on this forum I'm sure you can't go wrong with them!

I am new to this. I have recently purchased an IP but do not have a tax accountant. Does anyone know a good tax accountant in the st george region (nsw)? I am trying to find a good tax accountant that is an expert at tax issues with IPs like CGT, depreciation schedules and able to give advice on what structure to use minimise tax?

I am soon to be relocating to the Sunshine Coast (QLD) but one in Brisbane also ok.
Anyone have any suggestions??? Need someone who really understands Trust Structures & Investment Properties and the like, someone who is an expert in this area, AND available!
Any help would be appreciated as I have plenty things to sort out from past ignorance and lack of quality knowledgable advice….

Hi everyone, we’re in the same boat here, our “expert” accountant has set up a trust that we can’t follow and can’t work out the details of, and since then we’ve parted ways with the firm SCC Accounting. We’re in geelong and really need some help or leads for a decent natured person who actually knows what they’re doing.
Any assistance greatly received…thecrestParticipant@thecrestJoin Date: 2004Post Count: 992
There's obviously a great need here.
With voice, data & paper communications now conquering distances, does it matter where this great accountant is?
I have trouble communicating effectively with mine face to face, and the lack of knowledge is amazing.
I think my plans have outgrown my accountant.
My hand is up too.
Can we list these great accountants ?
What about the Steve McKnight group starting something we can plug into ?( got your ears on Steve?)

My accounting practice is based in Croydon, Victoria. I have personally been in the invesment property market since 2001 and have numerous clients that own properties either as individuals or in trusts. I would be happy to take on new clients.
