    Hi All,

    Just wondering what bills can be passed on to tenants.

    eg…
    Rates
    Water
    Sewerage
    Elecricity
    Gas
    Telephone

    Not sure if different states have different rules ??

    Any advice or links warmly welcomed.

    Depends how the lease is set up but tenants usually have to get phone, power & gas in their own names (ie you don't arrange for these to be connected other than having the meters available).

    Tenant is responsible for the water usage (but not the services charges).

    So rates are responsibility of owner ?
    And re water, I assume that sewerage is also the owners reponsibility  ?
    Is this correct ?

    In some parts of Brisbane the owners also pay the water bill.

    I think all owners in Qld have to pay the water bill unless the house is fitted with a certain amount of water saving devices. ie: dual flush toilet, shower saving head. I would have to double check for you.

    Sewage will be covered in rates.

    All Good…

    The rates splits out…
    water fixed charge
    water usage
    sewerage

    I now know what can/can not be charged back.
