Currently dealing with Bankwest over a property lost in the Vic Bushfires,

they have offered to refund 3 months of interest payments to assist with cashflow until things are worked out.

They also offered to negotiate any terms of hardship on a fair and reasonable basis. Which for some people would be HUGE break costs that could ruin them.

I even heard a rumour that some banks are cancelling entire mortgages for owners that weren't insured and lost their source of income in the fires.

I thought this was a nice thing.

Have also found councils are ripping up red tape and cancelling all planning fees for rebuilding. They are working around the clock to help out.

And know that the bushfire appeal monies that many people donated and the many volunteers and services are helping the real victims who have lost their own homes and loved ones.

Only shame is that it takes a massive catastrophe for common sense and compassion to briefly show it's face.
