    Hi Guys,

Just wanted to know whether there is a need to contact the water company to get account created after moving to a newly purchased property (there is already water available)

    Cheers,
    Kenzel

    Hello Kenzel

Yes. You also need to tell them that you have vacated your last property if you were paying water bills there.

    Enjoy your new property

The best reason to contact the water authority (ie Sydney Water, Gosford Council etc) is to get the old meter read so that you aren't billed for the incoming person's water consumption (just like electricity). Sure the solicitor may have done this however it pays to be sure.
