    Hello,

I am looking at buying a 4 bedroom house and converting it into two units in Victoria. This will increase the rental income by around 50%.

What is the process for getting a second electricity / water supply (each unit needs its own meter)? Do you simply ring up the electricity / water company and ask for a second meter? How much roughly does it cost?

I need to figure out the “renovation” costs. Thanks for your help!

    Tom

Unfortunately not that easy. A double storey place would even be worse(as access to wires and pipes is much more difficult). Each half would need there electrical circuits seperated all the way back to the switchboard. Then you would need to check local suppy authority on what was allowed. You can buy your own meter , than work it out yourself. Get a good local electrical contractor onboard. Plumbing could even be worse, as it can be harder to seperate supplies. Again, get in touch with a good(not cheap) LOCAL plumber.
