    Hi Guys,

Can somebody please recommend a good mortgage broker to me in Adelaide. Also what is the main advantage of going through a broker?

    Thanks again

Some clients would prefer to meet with their broker some do not care. Therefore whether your broker needs to be in Adelaide is up to you.

If you do find one ask the following –

Is he a member of MIAA or FBAA
How long has he been in the industry
    How will he be paid
Is he acting as a broker or selling his own product
    Does he invest himself.

Well a good broker can look at exactly what you want, how it may impact you in the future, and base his recommendations on that. He will also guide you through the process, and hopefully present your application in the right light.

By not using a broker you miss out on any knowledge he has, and any products that may be better.

They should be paid by the Lender so essentially it is a free service to you.

A Broker should be part of the team you are building around you, which includes a good accountant, solicitor, etc.

    Regards
    John

There you go, may be woth giving John a call to see what he can do. at the end of the day finance is about faxes and emails so where your broker is dosen’t matter [biggrin]

I have a few contacts for finance brokers in Adelaide (if you prefer Adelaide), but they are specialised in different areas, some are great at development finance, some deal with investors with multiple properties, some are great at finding “quick private money” for trading properties and some deal only with clients that are borrowing over $5million at a time.

If you let us know exactly what you are after, I might be able to reffer someone. If it’s just a loan to buy one or two buy and hold investment properties, I would guess that it really dosen’t matter who you go to, anyone can do it! [biggrin]

    I agree with John.

In this age of modern technology where applications can be lodged electonically sitting down face to face with your Broker can be a thing of the past.

I have many clients here on the forum i have never met but would like to think that i have served their needs and they know where i am if they need anything.

Make sure that your broker is acting on your behalf and not his own. Personally i would only ever use someone with at least 10 years experience in the industry (hard to believe that some guys only have a year or two in finance and call themselves experts at the age of 23).

Also look at someone who is developing or investing in real estate or has a broad knowledge to be able to answer all of your questions both property related and not.

    Cheers

Thanks guys, very helpful. It is just for a buy and hold investment so I guess location of the broker isn’t important then. I would however like to talk face to face initially as it will be my first foray into real estate and it would just make me feel more comfortable.

    Cheers
