Not sure how many other people do this, but we usually give our tenants a house warming gift as soon as they move into one of our properties.

It’s usually things like a gift basket with champagne and chocolate, or a pot plant. These are getting a bit boring now, anyone have any other suggestions for gifts that tenants might enjoy?

    Value of under $50

If you were a tenant, what would you like to recieve from your landlord or property manager?

    Hi Dr X,

I give my tenants Bunnings vouchers I have found that they usually spend it on plants to beautify my rental property which is a big plus!

My current tenants got bored sitting around and so far my property has had a garden bed extended, solar lights, and shade cloth over a verandah def is a win win situation.

    Cheers[biggrin]

    Hi Dr X,

I have a couple of suggestions but their suitability would very much depend on the type/class of tennant and whether they were new to the area or not.

    1. Meal Credit at a local eatery. Somewhere popular with locals and a private business rather than mainstream Franchise. Maybe a coffeshop or somewhere that does breakfast/brunch. Help new people get to know the area a little.

    2. Membership to the local PCYC if there is one. I paid $30 pa where I am and it might be good for young families as there is a wide range of activities.

    3. Gift Voucher – similar to the bunnings idea but target stores such as Spotlight, Adairs, Pillow Talk etc which all do soft furnishings. Just thought it might limit the temptation to make hard changes you may not support. Polka dots in the living room for eg. LOL

    cheers

Some of these ideas are great [biggrin]

    what is PCYC?

I would love to find a busienss in SA where I could ring up and they would arrange something like a gift basket to be delievered but somone offering a personalised service. at the moment, we ring up larger stores where different people handle the order and they have no idea what we have ordered before and what our expectations are.

Anyone in Adelaide has a small florist/gift basket business?

PCYC is Police and Citizens Youth Club – lots of them here in Qld.

As for gift baskets, I can recommend
    http://www.rainbowdesigns.com.au/

They are in NSW but personal service is guaranteed.

    Hi Islandgirl.

I too give a gift (via the agent) – it may sound terrible, but it is a hamper full of cleaning products – althuoght I do like the Bunnings Vouchers suggested by others. The reason for this is:

sublte – keep the place clean
helpful – let’s them clean up without thinking about it
reminder – the place is new (or newly painted/fresh) so keep it that way
tenant – has just moved in and often wants to clean the place b4 their furniture and posessions go in
products – I know certain things clean better than others. For example I ALWAYS, ALWAYS include ‘Pinoclean Bath Foam’ for the shower (and rest of bathroom too). This is simply the best, the only product for showers. I know once they’re hooked they’ll use it again and I’ll get a nice bathroom after they have gone
blokes – male-only tenants need a hand in this area (generally).

    Cheers.

Nice suggestion Gerry, but I’m a bit of an environmentalist, I only ever use things like enjo cloths (or similar products) and water. That goes for in between cleans for rental properties and also my own house :)
