I have purchased a property and the RE agent told me the house is 12 years old. I believed him. Now I don’t believe him.

Can anyone advise me as to where I might be able to find out how old the house is? I doubt the council or builder would keep that sort of information on building work done that long ago.

Would be grateful if someone can advise me?

Check the gas meter or the electricity box. There should be a tag on there showing when it was installed. This is a good enough indication as to when the house was built.

You may need to use a quantity surveyor to get an estimate of the property age and building cost to use for building writeoff depreciation
