Just thought I would let you all know, My missus and I recently bought our first home at Gorokan on the sunny Central Coast NSW.
We were only half serious when looking (on tuesday last week)until we came accross this house (the very next day). We immediately rang the agent and had him show us though the house. We had a good look around, looked good, decent size block, decent kitchen, floor boards (cyprus) under carpet, no sign of anything sinister etc. The lake can be seen from the front yard, its about 100m away at the most. It also would be very easy to extend. We had a bit of a think about it and put an offer in (which beat the offer they had already had) we then put down a holding deposit.
We then went directly to the bank and saw the manager who organised a ‘mortgage specialist'[suave2] to see us on thursday. This being the first loan I had ever been for, I didnt know how we would go but we got it anyway.
Today was the end of the cooling off period. So although it was a very hectic week we managed to get it all done in a little over a week (including weekend).[biggrin]

here is a link to the house we bought http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin/rsearch?a=o&s=nsw&cc=&c=55116350&tm=1148627899&id=103131749&f=10&p=10&t=res&ty=&snf=rbs&ag=&cu=fn-rea&fmt=&header=

Anyway I think we have bought in at the best time any opinions?
At the age of 17 I was spending money on cars and going out, However I decided that I would have a house by 25 (and at least 2 by 30), well Im 23 now so I got in with a couple of years to spare[thumbsupanim] My missus is going to do her Phd in marine science, after that we will be full steam ahead[exhappy] hopefully on track for the 30yr goal.

PS – one of my mates at work (which is only 10 min down the road by the way[specool]) lives in the same area and told me that there is a house accross the road that is selling for about $550000-$600000. It is a bigger house and on the lake but hey, were only a few doors down the street.

    Way to go MM [thumbsupanim],

Congratulations – You’ve got some exciting and memorable times ahead of you.
You both must be so happy and proud.

Buying your first house at 23 says a lot for your character mate,
there’s no doubting you’ll snap up that second one well before your 30.

All the best to you both,

    Mark. [biggrin]

    Hey Mint Man,

Settlement for a house I have just bought in Gorokan is on the 3rd of April so I'll be moving up there very soon from wagga with my girlfriend . I have bought in Georgina avenue and I was wondering what the growth is like in this area. I have bought as a home and have an IP here in wagga but interested in a locals opinion.

Hope your 30 year plan is going strong and you have your 2nd house.

    Cheers
