I am about to start research into buying a property in Sydney. Where is a good place to start? Are there any favourite websites or companies who offer advice, not only on where to find the best loan, but about EVERY aspect of buying ie: suburb profiles and research, First home buyers grants, legal contract info, interest rates, financial advice, and pros and cons to buying etc…
I need some really comprehensive info with statistics to back it up. Everyone seems to have an opinion but it’s really hard to know who to listen to. Thank you very much. Eve

    Hi Eve,
I would recommend reading Steve McKnight’s two books which not only will give you an insight into buying a place to live, but also investing in Real Estate.

    Eve,

You will find most of your info needed on this site or other websites.

What you wont find is the actual stats on suburbs etc. This info may need to be purchased from a research company. Alternatively a reputable buyers agent may be able to help you research as they subscribe to all the databases with such info.

FHOG and other info about the actual mechanics of buying is straightforward and you will find your broker and/or solicitor able to help.

    Eve,
Not sure how far your advanced with your property investing, but I would recommend that, whatever you do, be prepared to take your time over it. I find that the more I know the more I realise that I don’t know. But this site is a great place to start finding out.
All the best with your efforts

eve – always good to keep an open mind – there is no one right way to get things done and along the journey you will have to chance, adapt an be flexible – may as well get used to it from the start.

    cheers

A great place to start is here! You can do searches here on the forum for specific topics like FHOG, trust, loans, renos…etc, etc. Look under Furums for the Search topic…

So do a search and see if there have been threads in the past that answer your current questions. If you can’t find the answers, then start a focussed thread on your topic.

There is alot of knowledge here and the people on this forum are so generous to share experiences and ideas- so take advantage of it!

    Good luck, [exhappy]
