I saw his two page ad in API magazine and like you keep looking for the catch. With all my sceptical antennae raised I am contacting him early next week to speak direct and hopefully glean a bit more info. Will post anything useful I get.
    Cheers

If it sounds to good to be true it probably is. Just a check on realestate.com.au shows they have a number of properties for sell which looks like they are sellers agents as well.

I have used a great sellers agent in Melbourne and before I made my choice which agent to use I made sure that they were only buyers agent.

I am sure that you will find that they recieve commissions, they are not a charity. They are more likely a marketing company

A buyers agent by meaning works for the buyer, therefore charges the buyer. Although we have a service which is much the same although if we are recieving payments from the seller, we then don’t charge the buyer and our service becomes free of charge to the buyer.

    Hope this helps.

Cameron Bird have been around for a while and in general sell properties on behalf of developers…..

    Nothing wrong with that!

But they are not buyer’s agents.

Sure you don’t pay their fee but the developer does its in the price and remember who they are working for. They are legally and morally bound to get the best price for their client (just in case you hadn’t worked it out by now – that is not you.)

Does that mean you should not buy from them or thru Roy from GPS, a valuable forum contributor. Not al all.

It just means you need to understand everybody’s role in the transaction and do your due dilligence even more carefully.

Thanks for your insight Michael, I think more so now days, there is less need to work for developers as there is just so much stock out there. And times are tuff!

So although paid by developers, (speaking for ourselves) there is no need to work for any particular developer of such and instead we research and produce our own due diligence reports on the best stock and returns out there in the market place as we are best equipped to do so, our clients are also encouraged to check our checks. Being in a position where we don’t charge our clients for our services and them receiving our research free of charge creates a great win/win situation.

    Hope that clarifies.
