Myself and my partners are currently setting up a 6 bedroom home to be used as student accommodation. We have been told by a number of insurers that they will not insure the house if we rent it out by the room; specifically if we have individual leases and rent out more than 2 room to other people. Has anyone else found this problem and if so who did you get to insure the property or how did you get around the no insurance if more than 2 rooms are rented?.

I have a 6 room share house. Insurance is difficult but I successfully got landlord insurance with CGU. I even got malicious damage included, although the excess for it is $1000.
