Would like/appreciate your thoughts on retirement security/lifestyle.

Is the aim of purchasing investment properties to fund people’s retirement via superannuation ie

    1. Purchase portfolio of investment properties during working life.
    2. Let tennants help pay for properties.
    3. Take advantage of tax savings from ATO on interest.
    4. Approx. 5 years before retirement start selling off properties annually.
    5. Contribute Capital Gains from properties to Super either as non deducted contributions or deducted contributions for the self employed (thereby claiming tax deduction and reducing tax on Gapital Gains)
    6. Once all properties are sold – RETIRE – then live off allocated pension.
    7. Result –
    a) no tennant problems
    b) reduction of tax on Capital Gains due to
    Superannuation contribution
    c) Tax advantaged allocated pension
    d) No stress retirement

Or do you keep all investment properties living off the rental income less expenses, pay normal tax rates, tie yourself down in retirement to managing properties then die and leave all your investments to someone else to then sell!

    Just curious!!![blink]

    hi Sitting on the Fence
You either arn’t in sydney or you missed the sydney meeting on sunday and I explained my Time line ( even down to the 50 year old and explained what I will buy and manage my funds) so for those who were there and didn’t understand why I have such a tight time line this was the reason and it is nearly exact as you have asked.
you must organise a self funded super fund and it must be a conforming unit.
I look out side the norm I would be interested how you have worked this out or have you read or had it organised.
I have had mine in place for approx 8 years and structured to suit.
And I have structured it to suit my requirements.

    here to help
