Evening all. I have found a backpackers lodge with some good potential. It consists of 6 units and a 3 bedroom managers residence, pool and bbq. Land size is 1100sqm. I have the idea of renting the units, and house out as per normal 3-6-12 month tennancy agreements.

I believe that the phones in the residences are controlled by a central PABX, and the electricity is metered communally. (not to sure about this, as the property is on 2 titles)

What would be involved in getting Telstra to put in individual phone lines, and meter electricity separately.

Would it be a better idea to keep electricity metered as it is and charge a surcharge on top of rent to cover it?

    Much thanks,

    Borg.
