Its now June and we are fast approaching the end of the Financial Year and the local papers (WA) are full of the usual tax scheme’s, Hometrader and other companies such as retirement planners, options courses etc are advertising madly and we at last get seminars in WA after a quiet period (John FITZGERALD is coming).

Whats new in your nick of the woods for June?

Any end of FY Seminars, Scams and Generally good ideas?

I was going to invest heavily in:
Emu farms (Emu farms? What were you thinking Marge?)
    Olive groves (mmm olives)
Australian Films (they always do well)
Borrow against my IP to pay out my PPOR then pre-pay my interest by the end of June for a fat refund (and then move off-shore to avoid the ATO)
Buy off the plan using a bank bond then on-sell at a massive profit before settlement in two years, thus making an almost infinite return on cash invested!
Start a “home based business” that really works. All I need is ten down-lines each with ten down-lines and I’ll be a millionaire (with no friends)
Sell generic viagra on the net.
Cure myself of cancer through the power of thought alone. (note: I don’t actually have cancer)
Attend a wealth creation seminar for the tiny sum of $5,000 (tiny sum because I’m sure to make a million).
    Um…

    That’s about it.

I’m thinking of investing in a few tulip bulbs…
or angora goats. In the meantime I’ll probably take out a large margin loan (with interest prepaid of course) to buy shares in the South Sea Trading Company.

Can I claim travelling expenses against blackjack card-counting winnings? What if I bugger it up? Can I claim a new shirt for my back?

I may consider dealing drugs in anticipation of being burgled – the courts have already ruled that stolen drug money can be written off against a dealer’s income [1].

Yes it is June and the “tax effective schemes” are out in force here in Queensland. As with previous years, poor witless sods will be duped and they will cry out for more regulation. Oh well.

With regards to infrastructure bonds, check with your stock broker or investorweb to see what is coming up. Otherwise you can get into Macqaurie Infrastructure Fund through it’s ASX listing.

Of course I love June because that’s when we have lots of people calling up to pay for their Tax Depreciation Schedules as they can can claim the cost of the schedule back in July as a 100% deduction.
