Hi Everyone
Does anyone know if they have the First Home Owners Grant or anything similar in N.Z.

Just about to get into P/I in a large way with an aim to early retirement and having fun along the way.

Hi,
No they don’t have any FHOG…
which is probably why housing is still affordable in lots of areas.

We dont have it yet… but it is a discussion topic with the current government.

hope they learn the lesson from the NSW govt expereinces and chuck that idea away

Hi Chris,
Check out my recent post re the budget annoucements this week. Plans have been announced for a very limited NZ FHOG linked to compulsory savings. Different to the OZ version. The grant is limited and buyers wont be able to get their hands on the cash until 2010, however, as with all gov’t intervention there will be an effect on the market.

Not sure what that short term effect will be though!
