    Hi Folks

Wanna stop those nuisance phone calls from Direct Marketers interrupting your private family time?

I’ve just found out this great information, so thought I’d share it with all of you. Click onto the Australian Direct Marketing Website:
    http://www.adma.com.au
and click the top RH corner under “Do Not Call Register” and fill out the online form. Fill in the form online, or phone 02 9368 0366.

This site is partially sponsored by Telstra and Australia Post, two of the biggest government-backed corporations who sell our private details in massive mailing /phone lists to other companies. Due to public pressure, some of the Australian companies selling our details to direct marketing companies have been forced to give consumers the chance to take our names off their lists. Note that taking this action will only stop the 500 members of this Association from calling you, but we’ve all got to start somewhere, right? [biggrin][bonjour][cigar][cigar][cigar][cigar][cigar]

We tried to ring the phone number on the weekend, but (of course) WE can only ring it Mon-Fri during office hours, whereas THEY make a point of ringing us after hours!! Typical government pandering to businesses, against the rights of citizens. But we’re determined to persist, and will ring them today during office hours if necessary. The best option is to go online.

Make sure you get WRITTEN CONFIRMATION that your name has been taken off, plus the phone number of the Telecommunications Ombudsman for further determined action on our parts.

Also, we’ll attempt to get a comment about Indian direct call companies (ie, they sell our details offshore, then our government tells us they have no power to legislate to stop international companies from doing something outside Australian borders).

We don’t know if this will work, or how many calls it will actually block, but we got this phone number from a TV program after a telecommunications company representative was hauled over the coals on TV, and he gave this number out.

If dedicated forumites have got any more tips re other actions we can all take, PLEASE POST THEM HERE, okay? Good luck! [biggrin]

    Cheers
    Greg
PS: Please see my other post re Nuisance calls from Indian telemarketers. We need to unite to fight this one.
