    Firstly, please forgive my lack of knowledge in this area. We have arrived from the UK as permanent residents and currently living in Sydney. We want to invest our capital obtained from our house sale in the UK – approx $240k but also need somewhere to live. We want to split our capital to use some as deposit for a place in Sydney to live and invest in a unit in NZ and obtain rental income. We don’t know a great deal about property investment and don’t want to make any obvious or stupid mistakes. I’ve found this website which is a great help, but need to know how to calculate the return on investment. Does anyone know of any online calculators that could help me.

    Any suggestions for resources that would help us are welcome.
