Hi guys, maybe a stupid question, but is the FHOG only awarded if you are going to live in the state where you are living now or in australia.
The reason i ask this is that i got offered a scholarship to study overseas, e.g sweden or somewhere else for 6month on exchange because of my results and they’ll pay for me to go there and uni fee’s but not accomidation. and i was thinking if i’m there for 6months i should buy my place there and live in it for that time and then rent it out, but was wondering whether the FHOG will cover me there.
hey, JOHN HOWARD, i’ll vote for you if you allow this. thanks guys.

    regard’s Jarred.

nope, no chance. the FHOG is a policy driven by enabling people into the property market, but also to drive the property market here.

If you’re only going to sweden for 6 months why not just buy here before you go and rent it out. it will be much easier to manage too.

    swedish prices are not cheap.
