I have a couple of construction projects in the works and would like to keep the developments in both cases. The rental returns are not quite there but I was thinking of running them as holiday accomodation.
Does anyone know how to determine what sort of vacancy rates I might be looking at? I have done my homework on nearby alternatives as much as I can. One of the projects is in a growing seaside area with nothing else similar available. I am wondering whether there will be sufficient market. I am looking at building 15 small units.
Also – would owner building be a stupid idea? Did anyone see Yvonne Keane on Hot Property who apparently was able to keep costs to $400 per square metre by owner building! Sounds amazing!
