    Hi all,
I think this has been asked somewhere else but I can’t seem to find it. I just want to know what sort of insurance people have on their properties (Landlord and building) and what company do they use. I am currently going through the process for purchasing my first property and what everything in place before it’s finilised.

    Thanks for the help
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew!
I have CGU’s Landlords Residential Property Insurance.
This covers building, contents, landlord’s and liability.

Landlord insurance includes things like: theft by tenants, malicious damage or vandalism by tenants, deliberate or intentional damage by tenants, rent default and theft by tenants.

Any insurance company will give you a free quote over the phone, or sometimes companies have a facility on their website to work out a quote for yourself.

I use Terri Scheers. They are relatively cheap but not sure how good coz I have not had the need to claim anything yet.

I’ve found CGU good, too. Reasonably priced. To take Bennido’s point, though, I’ve never had to make a claim. It’s when you want money off your insurer that you find out how ‘good’ they are.

    Drewster,

I also use CGU. I think they are the best. They cover it all for an excellent price! Had two claims in last 6 years. No problems.

I use RentCover Plus or CommInsure for LAndlords Insurance, contetns and Public Liability. Also use CommInsure for Building and sometimes for the other stuff too, depends on price, what’s covered etc. Below is the address for rentcover.

    But yes, shop around.

I had an insurance broker source CGU for me, they said they get bulk rates and charged me no commission.

They were almost half of insurance price quoted by one of the banks.[cowboy2]
