An exhibition showcasing more than 80 South Island properties is to be held in Auckland this weekend.

Residential, country, lifestyle, viticulture, tourism and investment properties will be featured at the exhibition with representatives from Bayleys’ Canterbury, Nelson, Marlborough, Dunedin, Wanaka and Queenstown offices present.

Mark Macky, national marketing manager of Bayleys Realty Group,
says South Island property is in demand with Auckland buyers. He says increasing numbers of Aucklanders are choosing to invest in South Island property or buy holiday homes there.

Mr Macky says a number of Aucklanders are also choosing to relocate to the South Island for a lifestyle change.

“The South Island’s scenic surrounds, outdoor pursuits and relaxed lifestyle, coupled with lower house prices than in Auckland, makes it an attractive place to live,” says Mr Macky.

Properties currently being marketed by Bayleys which will be featured in the exhibition include:

An eight hectare waterfront property on the toe of a peninsula on Arapawa Island in Queen Charlotte Sound. The property is accessible only by boat or helicopter, and has its own wharf and helipad.

The four-bedroom home is surrounded by decking, and has a spa and swimming pool.

    The Boat Shed – Bayleys
A waterfront property currently utilised as an artists’ studio in Deborah Bay, Dunedin, with views across the harbour. The Boatshed would also be ideal as a holiday home and comprises a large workshop with stairs leading up to a spacious studio, compact kitchenette, small bathroom and one bedroom.

A 220 ha property comprising pristine beach forest and wetlands located in Springs Junction.

The seven-unit Mount Earnslaw Motel which is the only motel in Glenorchy. The complex, approximately 45 minutes from Queenstown, has 506 sq m of vacant land for future development.

Thirteen residential sections which are part of Terrace Downs High Country Estate, located in the foothills of the Southern Alps in Canterbury.

The South Island Expo will be held at Bayleys’ Auckland central office on July 24 and 25.
