    Hello everyone,

    from time to time I get stumped with what XXXX means – for example what does LOL mean, ), I have not got a clue. Though, I do know the basics like IP, RE.

    Has anyone got a list of all these abreviations so it all makes sense. If not, lets get a list going to help everyone, especially ME.

    Cheers..[biggrin]

    Hi Marisa,

    I’m still learning, but here’s just a few…..

    IMO = in my opinion
    IMHO = in my honest opinion
    ISTM = it seems to me
    LOL = laughs out loud
    OMFG = Oh my f****** God (sorry, you’ll have to figure that one out for yourself)
    LMAO = laughing my a** off (again, think about it)
    TTFN = ta ta for now
    REA = real estate agent
    PPOR = primary place of residence
    (you probably know the last 2 anyway)

    Hope that helps a bit.

    Cheers, [tongue]

    LOL reminds me, Ionce used IMHO in a post, thinking that it had this meaning.
    Then someone asked me in what part of my opinion I was being humble.
    So from then on I always thought IMHO meant “in my humble opinion”.
    So just to make sure, does the H stand for honest or for humble? [blush2]

    Good point Celivia,

    That’s why I always use IMO and not IMHO, because the same thing crossed my mind….since when do people give their DISHONEST opinion!!! [lmao]

    OK, great.

    LOL. I know I’ll remember that one.

    By the way, stupid question, but who made up these abbreviations up in the first instance. Was there some sort of working party set up or whatever etc. etc. (only joking, I know my daughter would say “Lame”).

    Anyway, hope to be able to use and remember some of these.

    Del and Monopoly, you always help me feel better.

    Thanks[biggrin]

    Hi Marisa,

    I have seen a business magazine mentioned lately, I think it may have been BRW (Business Review Weekly) but I have read in here several times, mention of a magazine which I too subscribe to, and that is API – Australian Property Investors magazine; that’s the one Stuart Wemyss writes in (it’s a great read, very informative and worth the money).

    Cheers,

    Hey Marisa

    Do you want to start up a new post, and add/edit it as people suggest some others? I’m supposed to, but I’m lazy [biggrin]

    Jaffa is then going to add the post to his helpful links page, so that hopefully we’ll have a definitive list that all newbies can go to – or anybody that doesn’t use them often…. like me. (Except for PPOR and IP)

    Cheers
