Hi, does anyone here have any IP’s in New Zealand, particularly Wanganui?

I need to do some maintenance on an IP in Wanganui and want to know if anyone can please recommend any good tradesman.

    Thanks

Good Luck. Thats why I only invest near home.

I dont need the hassles. I hope the extra $2-3k per year is worth the effort.

    Go easy Yack

Hi OPM, no, I don’t but maybe Westan could help you out. I’m sure he would have a lot of contacts. I also invest away from home (or I keep moving away from my investments [?]), and I try to make contacts and find reputable tradespeople at the time of researching/purchasing a property.

    Good luck

Fair enough. Maybe woke up too early.

I always ask my property manager. Try them.

Thanks Judi, i’ll give Westan a ring tonight but i think all his stuff is down south.

Yack, I also used to invest locally until i realised i was missing out on other markets – so now i invest where i get the returns (VIC, QLD, NSW, NZ). Not sure what the extra $2k-$3k is for?

I’ve got the local Yellow Pages but it’s always good to get a recommendation. As we all know, things change, bad becomes good, good goes bad etc etc.

which is Telecoms list of business phone numbers.

Thanks recoveryman, i’ve sent you a PM.
Any recommendations for an arbourist (tree remover), and “handyman” would be great.

Thanks too muppet, i’ll have a look but i don’t know if it’ll have more/different listings to the hard copy i’ve got.

    <<<<<yack = neil jenman…lol>>>>>

Well, I am not Neil Jenman. Sure I share alot of his views but in my opinion, He too has his own barrow to push eg. make his group of agents sound the best in Australia.

Me – well I dont think rural properties are good investments. I dont like wraps – there will probably be problems in the future. Property Gurus, Property Groups and financial advisors piss me off. I enjoy property investing and to date I am more than satisfied but not anywhere near giving up the day job.

Future – well, presently I am helping my brother get his builders licence. So I hope to possibly do some developments with him. I am the accountant and he is the builder – so I think we are a good mix.

I hope you dont mind me being the devils advocate a bit – I am growth oriented, as property is a long term investment. I think alot of people are buying ve+ rural properties and will at some stage in the future sell out as the hassles will not be worth the effort. It may not be in 2 yrs but within 4-5 yrs they will have had enough.

    OPM,

Have you got a property manager in Wanganui? Presumably, if you’re far away from the property, then you do. I am far away from mine too, although I’m in Australia. I rely on my PM’s to do all that stuff, and to find good reliable people to help me out. That’s what they’re paid for.

By the way, MiniMogul is also an investor in NZ, and she does reno’s there, so presumably she knows tradespersons- where is she, anyhoo? Haven;t seen heron the Forum for a while.

Which suburbs around here do you own property in?

I grew up in Mentone. My wife and I had a unit in Parkdale and sold it and now live in Aspendale. Hello neighbour.

I invest in Mentone and Sth Frankston. My aim one day is to live back in Parkdake and buy a house between railway and Beach rd. No hurry though. My kids are not even at primary school yet, but I would like to be there once they start secondary school.
