Is it possible at all to get a mortgage, using a house which I own in England? If so, whom do I approach? I now live in Australia permanently.

Not that I’m aware of. Australian lenders only accept property located in Australia.

Try HSBC as they know own Midland Bank they might consider it. I own several properties in SE England but use an offshore lender for funding.

Could you not finance it through a lender in England, and then bring the money in to Australia?

Friends of ours recently did that – but they did have pension income in England which possibly helped with the loan. Not sure of all the details there.

    Cheers
