Where do you get a life expectancy test? I would be interested in getting one done.

First time post for me but definately on a subject dear to my heart.

It is funny how when you are heading into your late thirties with an incureable (but not yet debilitating) disease that you start thinking about the end of working for someone else.

I have a dream! And by golly I am going to make it work. Gone is the “woe is me attitude” that keeps me in a job that tires me out (even though I am well rewarded and well rcognised) and slowly sucks the life out of me.

I KNOW where I want to go and I will do ANYTHING to get there. It may take me a little while (certainly probably longer than 2 years) as I can’t make all the sacrifices now I should because of loacation and children. But by goodness one day I will live on my semi self sufficient farmlet in Tasmania growing my own veges, lavender and small animals, while writing something or other.

Anyway I am enjoying reading these forums and 0-130 and will now sort out my grand PLAN (how delicious to create my castles in the air and work to make them real!).

Anyway…count me in to retire ASAP!

there’s no such thing as retirement anymore. anyway, retirement should mean ‘keeping your mind busy’ because if you don’t you go stale. true!

but it’s a bit harsh to describe the greater population as lemmings I would have thought.

    cheers

Meant no offence r, just refering how I feel about work. I think it would be great if no-one had to work. (that’s in Bec’s fantasy land).

P.S. Judi, a lemming is from an old computer game. They were cute little dudes that walk around and you control them to complete levels…..strategy game….I thought they were cute![:D]

Lemmings just follow the crowd – don’t think for themselves at all. If one goes over the cliff, they all do, etc. etc.

    Maybe…..

So what happen if you don’t want to do anything, you just want to travel from one country to the other to see the world! is there such career? or is it so call career change?

May be you can explain a little bit more in details?

For me personally….FALSE. The only reason I want to retire because I don’t want to keep my mind busy!

    Hi Guys,

hopefully after the easter break, havent told work yet… but honestly, with the way my boss acts and all, (hes a real prick) will be organsing work to reduce my working hours a little further more again… [:o)]

    …. not quite yet…. financial freedom…. [:(]

People 4get that by saving just $3 a day & investing it sensibly
over a working life, you’ll end up with around $1 million

    Hi Guys

I did heaps when i was younger, married late, had the kids I didn’t think i would have and will probably work until I am 65 as I will be raising the kids till then.

This is unless the new mindset and learning curve i am on takes off ( It Will I Am Here Writing )and the govt keeps its hands off what we gain by investing.

But truly if I go tomorrow I can honestly say I have lived in a great country, enjoyed adventures and experiences many never get to retirement to do so we are all different.

Enjoy today, even your Yuk job as you could have been a 10yr old in India carting stones from dawn to dusk and they consider themselves lucky to have the job!!!!

    Love the chats[biggrin]
