    Hi Kaloni,

I use POSH. It’s quite good – but has it’s limitations though. Most off the shelf software does. If you spend some time setting up some spreadsheets in excel, that would probably serve you just as well.

I agree with Kym. Once you set up the template spreadsheet, it will pretty much do the same thing for you. It will probably be more flexible (tailor it to your specific circumstances) and ultimately cheaper. Of course you need a little knowledge of excel to do it.

In saying that, I have never actually bought one, so there maybe other benefits in these programs.

Ultimately, by setting up the spreadsheet yourself (of course that takes time), you will learn a lot more about the numbers and force yourself to understand the details of your portfolio. (Just my thoughts)

    Hi Kaloni,

I too would recommend an excel spreadsheet – cheap, simple and easy to use.

Irrespective of which program you use the key is ensuring you maintain your records as the invoices and rental statements come in. This way you do not have an onerous task in front of you at the end of the financial year.

You are now running a ‘business’ and while book keeping isn’t ‘sexy’ it is essential.

And. speaking from experience, back you records up.

    Hiya

I’m interested in adding some basic rent tracking functionality into a future version of EZ-Rent. So to that end, if you don’t mind me taking a look at your spreadsheets, it will give me a good idea of what people are looking for?

    thanks
