So what do we think of Mount Morgan (33kms from Rockhampton) and Ingham/Halifax areas( Hinchinbrook district) in Northern Qld?

I used to live in Innisfail once upon a time… not to far from Ingham and I only know this:

The sugar industry is feeling the pinch and the Aust/US freetrade agreement did nothing to help. The area is predominately primary producers – sugar cane growers. From an economic standpoint I would be cautious.

Then again I know 5/8 of stuff all. That is just how I see it. I have heard of Mt Morgan but that is about it…

there’s been a little discussion about Mt Morgan in some of the Rocky threads and some others. If you do a search it should come up.

Most are against, but Qld 007 seems to have bought many there in the last 6-12 months.

I have just returned from a 1 month holiday up to QLD to Cape Tribulation. Spent a couple of nights on Hinchinbrook Island and went through the Ingham and Halifax areas.

It depends what your looking for. Do you want a positive/negative cash flow property ? I would check out the area for yourself and see if you think it would make a good investment.

As for me I don’t think that there is enough infrastructure at this point in time. It’s abit too quiet for me and you might have trouble getting tenants.

Dont know about Mt Morgan but what these guys are saying about ingham/halifax is spot on. Halifax is lovely have a young mate living their. however like most young locals up there he is trying to get work in Townsville or Cairns. Numerous/most locals and R.Agents have expressed concerns for Ingham. Halifax however have a 2nd asset, their beach. Prices have jumped in the last yr on most beachfronts betweens TSV & Cairns. i would like to buy beachfront aswell but perhaps closer to Cairns. but this is just my opinion, happy investing
